
Common description
Chios is an island in the Aegean. A small strait of about 7 km. separated from Turkey. The island has a crescent shape, curving to the east, length about 50 km, maximum width about 20 km. The highest point is about 1300 meters above sea level.
Chios is popular among the Greeks themselves. The island has many quiet beaches and secluded coves.
How to get to Chios
By sea:
Hellenic Seaways ferries depart from the port of Piraeus in Athens. In the period from mid-July to the end of August daily, and from mid-June to early September - on all days except Sunday. Travel time - six and a half hours, tickets - from € 19 to € 53 (depending on class).
Chios also has maritime connections with Thessaloniki and the islands of Psara, Lesbos, Samos, Kos and Rhodes. In addition, ferries depart from the island daily (in season) to Turkish Cesme.
By air
Athens and Chios airports are connected by Olympic Airlines and Aegean Airlines flights (daily, 45 minutes on the way).
