Patmos

Common description

Patmos is a small Greek island in the southeast of the Aegean Sea, 70 km from Turkey, one of the South Sporades. The coastline is about 63 kilometers long; the highest point of Patmos - 269 meters above sea level. The island is rocky and virtually treeless.

Typically, tourists get to Patmos from cruise ships, not staying overnight. Therefore, the island is relatively calm even in the summer, despite several excellent beaches (the best is in the town of Grikos).

Skala is the only port of Patmos, located approximately in the middle of the island in the bay. In this part there is an isthmus, as if dividing the island in two.
