Madurai is the oldest existing city on Hindustan Peninsula, the administrative center of Madurai district, the third largest city in Tamil Nadu. The city was built by the Pandya Ruler of Kulashekhar and was the capital of the Pandyan rulers of South India. The main attraction of the city is the Hindu temple, Minakshi.
