Costa del Sol ("Costa del Sol" - "Sunny Beach" or literally "Sunshine") is a region of southern Spain, located in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and includes the coastal settlements of the province of Malaga. Costa del Sol is the most southern Mediterranean resort in the country. It is located between other coasts - Costa Tropical and Campo de Gibraltar. Once comprised of only a series of small fishing settlements, the region was transformed in the mid-20th century into a tourist resort with worldwide popularity. The region includes such cities as Malaga, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Nerja, Estepona, Manilva, Torrox. The Costa del Sol is a popular tourist destination that receives millions of tourists every year. They usually arrive at Malaga Airport and Port and then go to the numerous towns and villages along the coastline from Gibraltar in the west to Nerja in the east.
