Common description
Menorca Island (Menorca, Minorca) - the second largest (694 sq. Km.) And the most northeastern in the archipelago. The island is known for its megalithic stone monuments, which indicate that its human settlement took place at the dawn of civilization.
On the one hand, the island is considered one of the most expensive and fashionable resorts in Spain, on the other hand, here you will not find the huge hotel complexes of the Mediterranean coast familiar to the eye. The fact is that, according to UNESCO, Menorca is an international biosphere resource, in the territory of which the construction of tall buildings is prohibited (only two five-story complexes built before UNESCO’s decision were preserved). Today, the rules say: hotels should not be higher than 3 floors, the roofs of houses of residents of the island should be in harmony with the color of the soil, and the walls must be painted white.
There are about 120 beaches on the island - more than in Mallorca and Ibiza combined. But many of them are hard to get - you have to go down the rocks, and some can only be reached by boat. But if you do this, you will be fully rewarded - the fabulous beauty of the bay will not leave anyone indifferent. The most amazing bay is Cala Santa Galdana.
