The ancient city of Luoyang was founded in the XI century BC. and served as the capital for the 9th Tang and Song Imperial Dynasties. Luoyang, a city on the north bank of the Lo River, is one of the oldest centers of Chinese civilization. He served either the sole or second capital of 9 early dynasties. In the heyday of Luoyang, V c., South of the city in the sandstone grotto began the creation of Buddha statues. Subsequently, nearly 100,000 statues and reliefs were created here in 2000.
