Common description

Sanya is the southernmost city in China, specializing in international tourism and leisure. Picturesque bays, the presence of numerous tourist routes have determined the development of this region as a center of international tourism and recreation with the prospect of creating by the beginning of the XXI century an alternative to Thailand, a new international tourist zone "Hainan - East Hawaii".

The main hotels and year-round recreation areas are located in two bays of Sanya - the Dragon of Asia (Yalunwan) and the Great East Sea (Ta Dong Hai). Clear water and sandy beaches of excellent quality attract tourists here.

The most fashionable hotels are located in the "Dragon of Asia" bay (25 km from the city).

Tak Dong Hai Bay, located 3 km from the city center, attracts tourists who love evening entertainment. Here on the beach is Sanya's largest seafood restaurant. The whole coast is built up with hotels with romantic names.

Hainan is a huge tropical island located in the south of China. Volcanic activity in Hainan stopped 8,000 years ago, but it is evidenced by extinct volcanoes, to the craters of which are laid tourist routes. Another and perhaps more significant confirmation of the once active volcanic activity on the island are the thermal springs scattered throughout the island. They are surrounded by cottage-type resorts, immersed in lush green tropical plants.

The capital of Hainan Island is the city of Haikou. The emergence of Haikou dates back to the reign of the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 gg.) The city is located on the north coast of the island at the mouth of the river Nandu (Nandu). For most travelers, this is just a transit point on the way to the southern beaches and Sanye. However, it is a friendly city with many buildings of old South Chinese and Portuguese colonial architecture in the center. The western part of the city is a large commercial and passenger port, the main gate of the island to the mainland. The southern part is the airport. All hotels and architectural monuments are located in the central part, along Xinhua Nanlu Street.

The island has two international airports - "Camellia" in Haikou in the north and "Phoenix" in Sanya in the south - connected by air not only with mainland cities, but also with Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Macau.

The indigenous population of the island is now the national minorities of Li (Li) and Miao (Miao), living in dense tropical forests in the mountains Limulingshan (Limulingshan) in the center of the island. The coastal areas of the island are inhabited by Han - ethnic Chinese. Today, the population of Hainan is more than five million people, of whom 700 thousand - Li, 40 thousand - Miao.
