Suzhou is planned in the style of urban planning of the Song era: numerous canals and streets intersect at right angles. Suzhou is famous for its gardens and parks. The gardens are small, but they embodied the uniqueness of the masters. These oases of harmony were created at the request of individual officials and other high-ranking officials who wanted to get away from the hectic life and enjoy the perfection of nature.

The Cold Mountains Monastery of Hanshanxi, named after a follower of Chan Buddhism, the monk Han Shan, loved strong drinks and composed eccentric poems.
