Marrakech is one of four imperial cities in Morocco, the third largest city in the country after Casablanca and Rabat. It is located in the southwest of the country at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. The place name "Morocco" is a distorted Spanish pronunciation of the name of this city (Marruecos). In the past, Morocco was known in the east under the name of Marrakech and is still called so in Iran.
