Common description
Acapulco is located on the Pacific coast, in the southwestern part of the country, the city stretches along the picturesque Acapulco Bay for more than 10 km and is surrounded by the Sierra Madre mountain range. In the west is the historical center. The central part of the bay is Acapulco Dorada. Further east lies the Acapulco Diamante, with fashionable hotels and many private houses and villas.
The port city of Acapulco is Mexico's famous "night capital", a city of entertainment shows, casinos and restaurants. The center of tourist life of Acapulco is the Pie de la Cuesta lagoon with excellent beaches and restaurants on the northern outskirts of the city. Also interesting are the Spanish fort of San Diego (XVII-XVIII centuries) in the historical center of the city, Municipal Square Zocalo, where you can see the most beautiful cathedral de la Soledad, a water amusement park, the colorful show "Mexican Fiesta", boat trips along the coast with dinner and shows, the famous cliff divers in La Quebrada (45 m.), discos, restaurants and much more. The coastal waters of Acapulco are very rich in animals. On the shores of the beautiful natural bay, more than 20 municipal beaches for every taste (all beaches are open and have free access). The best places for swimming are the beaches of Caleta, Pi de la Cuesta and Calletilla in the area of Old Acapulco, as well as the fashionable beach of Condeza. Here you can hire a fishing boat or a glass bottom boat and go to the resort island of Rocket, where the vast zoo is located, or to the peninsula de las Playas, to the altar of the Virgin Guadalupe lying at the bottom.
