Common description

Fujairah, unlike other principalities, is located not on the shores of the Persian Gulf, but the Indian Ocean (Gulf of Oman). Much of its territory is occupied by mountains, approaching the coast almost close.

Fujairah is the youngest of the emirates, it was once part of Sharjah and became independent only in 1953. The city of Fujairah is interesting, especially for its location. It is located on the shores of the Indian Ocean, while all other emirates are located on the coast of the Persian Gulf.
The main advantage of the emirate is its amazing nature. These are the beautiful mountains of Khojar, and the cleanest sea, beautiful beaches and lots of greenery, which can not boast of other emirates, as well as not many skyscrapers, as in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. If the noise of big cities you prefer solitude, if you truly love nature, then your vacation in the UAE should definitely take place in Fujairah, where the valleys among the mountains gently descend to the sea and open the view of ancient buildings.

In Fujairah there is a museum with an archeological gallery, where the finds from prehistoric settlements discovered near the nearby settlements of Kidfa and Bitna are delivered. You can see the excavations yourself. There are several of them in the bit. The most famous is the T-shaped excavation, which is an elongated burial divided into chambers.
Moving along Fujairah along the coast to the north, you will find Korfakkan, Baddiya and Dibb - nice seaside towns. Near Buddy, right on the highway is an unusual architecture muddy Buddy Mosque, which is considered the oldest preserved mosque in the UAE. Dibba is famous for its ancient Muslim cemetery, where, according to legend, the soldiers who brought Islam here in the 7th century AD are buried.

Fujairah offers great opportunities for diving - it is no coincidence that scuba divers from all over the world come here to international diving centers. Since the opening of the International Maritime Club, Fujairah has hosted various water sports competitions, such as boat races. Also, cruise tourism is one of the priority destinations in Fujairah. A huge number of passenger and cargo ships pass through the emirate's port.

If you are tired of just lying on the beach, the city's many travel agencies will offer a tour of the historical sites, of which there are many in Fujairah. It is here that the oldest mosque in the United Arab Emirates, Al-Bidiya, was built five centuries ago. It is annually visited by several million tourists and pilgrims. Very interesting and medieval fortresses of the Emirate of Al-Hail (former palace of the Emir of Fujairah), and Al-Bitna. A huge number of tourists come to the city specifically to see the famous bullfights, which are held every Friday (except in the summer months) near the bridge on the road leading to Kalba. But these battles are not bloody at all. During the fight, the bulls simply cling to their horns, and after the weaker one realizes his defeat, he simply runs away from the "battlefield".

Of course, the famous Friday market is very popular with tourists, where you can buy anything - gold, souvenirs, clothes and even, if you suddenly want an exotic, a donkey. There are three protected areas in Fujairah, where tourists are allowed. These are the waterfalls of Al-Wurraya, the gardens of Ain al-Madhab and the hot springs of Ain al-Gamur.

Fujairah is a real gem in the necklace of UAE cities. No wonder the Arabs themselves prefer this emirate for a sea holiday.
