Ras Al Khaimah - Located in the northern part of the UAE, next to the Hormuz Strait. The ancient city of Ras al Khaimah is considered the oldest and is mentioned in Arabic chronicles since the year 76 of Islamic history (695 AD), when the port of Julfar existed here.
The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is located in the most remote part of the Arab world. It has a strictly passing ridge with the Sultanate of Oman in the south and northeast. Several important islands are part of the emirate, the most famous of which are Bigger Tunub and Smalller Tunub. The city of Ras Al Khaimah, the capital of the emirate, is divided into two parts by a bay called Khor Ras Al Khaimah.
The nature of Ras Al Khaimah is distinguished by lush vegetation and significant water resources. It was water that enabled the emirate to develop agriculture, become famous for the huge variety of fruits and vegetables grown.
The western part is known as Old Ras Al Khaimah. Here is the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah and some government agencies, while in the eastern part, known as Al Nahil, the ruler’s office, government agencies and commercial firms are located. These parts are connected by a large bridge built through Al-Khor to streamline the traffic flow between the parts. Another area is called Al Hamranya, where Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is located, the Haat tourist area in the southeast (famous for its mineral waters and visited by tourists for treatment), and the Masafi area, known for natural drinking water.
The convenient location of the city has made it an important shopping center since ancient times. Then this emirate was constantly attacked by sea robbers, and therefore was called the "pirate coast". Tourists who prefer to relax in the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah, will undoubtedly find it interesting to explore the conical towers that were used in the old days to protect the emirate from enemy raids. The old fort, which was the seat of the ruling family until the mid-20th century, has recently been turned into a museum. Many interesting exhibits are stored there - both ancient household items, and numerous archaeological finds and magnificent photographs of the Hajar mountains.
Modern Ras Al Khaimah consists of two main parts. In the west - the old Ras Al Khaimah, in the east - the district of Al Nahil, connected by a bridge over the bay in which there are numerous sea vessels. The emirate is also famous for its natural hot springs, which are no less attractive to tourists than the architectural beauties of Ras Al Khaimah.
