Common description
Orlando is the fourth largest city in the state of Florida and the largest inland city of the Florida peninsula with a population of about 1.3 million people in the entire metropolitan area. Orlando was named after Orlando Reeves, according to one of the assumptions, a US Army soldier who participated in the Second Seminole War and died in the area. For a long time the town was a small settlement in a tropical swampy village, teeming with mosquitoes and alligators. The city was transformed after the opening of Disney World Parks, located in an area of 60 thousand acres (с24.3 thousand hectares), purchased by Walt Disney in 1965, at a cost of $ 100 per acre. As a result, many jobs have been created, tourists and investments have been attracted.
