Common description

The name of Serengeti, Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, comes from annual migration when six million hooves pass through open plains - 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson gazelles join the antelope transition in search of fresh pastures.

The park is located 335 km from Arusha, north of Kenya, bordering Lake Victoria in the west. The area of the park is 14763 sq.km.

You can get to the park by regular and charter flights from Arusha, Lake Magyar and Mwanza. Also by car from Arusha, Lake Magyar, Tarangire or from Ngorongoro Crater.

Best time to visit the park:
- observation of wildebeest migration from December to July
- observation of predators June-October.
