Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park is located in the central part of Honshu Island in the prefectures of Tokyo, Yamanashi, Kanagawa, Shizuoka.
The park was founded on February 1, 1936. The total area is 1,227 km2.
It consists of three districts:
area around Mount Fuji (Mount Fuji itself, Five Fuji Lakes)
Hakone Peninsula Izu and the islands around it.
The main attractions of the park are Mount Fuji, waterfalls, mountain lakes, hot springs, islands of volcanic origin with tropical vegetation, beaches and resorts of the Izu Peninsula, the oldest Buddhist and Shinto temples. The park and especially the Hakone area is a popular tourist destination. In the immediate vicinity of the park are cities such as Odawara, Fuji and Numazu.
