Samburu

Common description

The Samburu National Wildlife Refuge is known for the various species of animals and birds that inhabit it. Predators include lion, cheetah and leopard. The reserve has a population of 900 elephant individuals. Other mammals to be found in the park are: buffalo, hippopotamus, grenadier, African warthog, Grant gazelles, dickdick Kerk, impala, water goat, antelope. There are more than 350 bird species in the park, and a large number of individuals of the Nile crocodile live in the Ivashi Niro River. It was in Samburu that the Kamunyak lion lived, which protected antelope antelope cubs from predators. Also in the Samburu Nature Reserve, environmentalists George and Joy Adamson, the Elsa Lion was rescued, which was then released with the book "Born to Freedom" and a movie of the same name.
